DESCRIPTION:Alternate Date:Friday\, March 9\, 4:00 to 6:30 pmAn examination in two parts \nPart I:Multiple Choice (110 min) (No. 2 lead pencil required)Part II: Tiebreaker (30 min) \nStudents compete in two divisions\, Advanced and Regular. Regular Division for first year students other than advanced placement; Advanced Division for all others. \nThe Advanced Division exam is used to determine qualifiers for the 2018 National Chemistry Olympiad Exam. \nTeachers may enter their students by filling and submitting the registration form. \nTeachers will be notified when results are available. Winning students and their teachers will be recognized at Awards Night in April.

SUMMARY:Battle of the Burets
DESCRIPTION:The annual titration face-off will be hosted again this year by SIU–Edwardsville. Registration and pizza begin at 6:00 pm\, hands-on buret-wielding at 6:30\, with the championship heat to follow. \nEach school may send up to two teams of two students each. Each student will do three individual titrations; the group score is the sum of the scores for the team. \nRegistration deadline is 4 pm on Thursday\, Feb 1. If you are a high school chemistry teacher and you have not received an email with registration information\, please contact the coordinator by email or phone (below). \nStudent clothing must cover legs and feet\, and splash goggles must be worn in the lab. DESCRIPTION:(in the Napoli Reserve Room)\n(free parking at meters after 5 pm) \nThe December Board of Directors meeting\, also know as the Continuity Dinner\, is a fancier than usual affair to celebrate the year’s achievements\, recognize certain members\, announce the Distinguished Service Award (conferred in March)\, and pass the gavel to the incoming section officers. Plus\, there is the Henry Godt Memorial Lecture\, given by a surprise speaker\, which lightly and briefly (we promise: briefly) recaps the year-in-chemistry-in-St-Louis. If you’re not a regular ACS meeting attendee\, come renew or create acquaintances. \nThere will be a General Meeting of the Section\, but business will be light. And there are almost always some new and old members whom we see only at this event. So come! \nSchedule of events: \n6:30 pm — Social hour with appetizers\, cash bar\n7:00 pm — Meeting and dinner \nCost of dinner is $25.
