DESCRIPTION:Sponsored by the American Chemical Society\, the objective is to introduce high school science students to careers in chemistry and biochemistry and have them observe activities in those areas. Your visit includes tours of research laboratories and instrument facilities\, and chemistry demonstrations by the UM-St. Louis Chemistry Club. \nIn the department tour\, research in biochemistry\, inorganic\, organic\, and physical chemistry will be featured and major instruments to be demonstrated include x-ray diffraction\, nuclear magnetic resonance\, mass spectrometry and electron microscopy. \nLunch (pizza\, etc.) starting at about 11:30 a.m. concludes the event. \nFor more details\, please see the invitation letter. \nPlease respond by Friday April 22nd\, 2016 to Michelle Haley (516-5311\, e-mail: haleym@umsl.edu) with the number of students who will attend and include an email address in your response. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the continuation of the module on failure with an interactive workshop.  \nProf. Michael Shaner of St. Louis University School of Business and Administration and international speaker will lead the workshop on how failure is a good thing to help us grow and succeed. One of the sayings in the pharmaceutical industry is “Fail Early\, Fail Often” (get problems out of the way early\, and focus on what will work). \nRegister early\, register often to reserve your spot (no later than May 24). \nAll disciplines and professionals are welcome – you need not be a chemist or scientist to attend!
