21 Chemists Celebrate Earth Day, 10 am–4 pm at the Saint Louis Science Center, Dinosaur Overlook
This year’s theme, Rethinking Recycling—It’s easy to be Green, brings international focus to environmental causes, such as clean air, water, and energy. Join in and help us promote the positive role that chemistry plays in preserving the Earth. If you would like to help in this public outreach event, contact Greg Wall, 314.435.6487 or gwall37@msn.com. Your time, consideration, and participation will be much appreciated.
Kids and Chemistry will be on as well, hosting three tables with activities for children: ·  Enzymes for Digestion and Cleaning · Starch Scavenger Hunt · Crushing Cans or Gluep. Greensfelder Rec Complex, Queeny Park, 550 Weidmann Road in west St Louis County
Elementary (K-5): Participation Awards distributed to chemistry-related projects. Three people needed for about one hour each between 3 and 8 pm. No judging involved.
Secondary (6th–12th grade): judging of chemistry-related projects 3–8:30 pm (please volunteer for at least 2½ hours). Secondary judges must be present at 8:30 to pick winners.
Free dinner for judges in both divisions (5–6 pm).

 1 Nomination deadline for the new WCC Rising Star Awards
This new award from the Women Chemists Committee is intended to attract, retain, and develop women chemists. Open to early-career female members of the ACS, it includes support for national meeting attendance and a bunch of other perks. Nominations, including self-nominations, can be entered online.
 9 Eighth Annual St Louis Section Picnic
